Kid's diet during CMCO

How do you take care of your kid’s diet, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic?

1. Eat Home-cooked Meals

During this CMCO, although you can order your favorite food from outside restaurants or cafes, but home-cooked meals is still the best.

​

Outside foods are typically high in fat, salt, sugar.  When we prepare our own food, we will know which ingredients and how much of them are going to put inside the food.

2. Create a weekly menu

Always struggling with what to cook later? Start to schedule a weekly menu will make you easier.

​

When you have a meal plan, you have the time to think about foods that they like. So that they won’t the same meals several days in a row.
 

3. Control food portion

The Kid’s Healthy Eating Plate is a visual guide that created by nutrition expert to help educate and encourage children to eat well and keep moving. 

​

The optimum portion for kid is filling vegetables and fruits in half of the plate and split the other half with whole grains and protein. 
 

4. Limited sugar intake
Sugary drinks, sweets and other junk foods should not be eaten every day. This is because those food can cause obesity and tooth decay to kids.

​

5. Make sure they drink milk

Milk is a rich source of protein, calcium and vitamin D, which is important for kids growth. They give your kids strong and healthy bones, and also helps in children growth and development.

​

Based on The National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS) in United Kingdom, children with 1-3 years old require to drink 350mg calcium per day. 4-6 years old 450mg, 7-10 years old 550mg and 11-18 years old requires 800mg/day.
 

6. Eat more fruits and vegetables

Fruits and Vegetables are a good source of vitamins and minerals. It can strengthen your kid’s immune system and help to fight illness.

Start to cook your family’s favorite food and let them indulge with it.
