Being Slim isn’t necessarily Healthy.

What will you choose between being slim and fat? I strongly believe that everyone prefer to be slim. However, I will choose to be healthy instead of these options.
Brenda Ooi, 24, a personal wellness coach said, being slim not necessarily means healthy. People nowadays, especially women are very sensitive about weight. They are too concern about their weight, that they get anxious seeing their weight increase. However, weight is only a number. For an example, two peoples of the same weight would be different virtually where one person could be looking fatter compare to another. This is due to the difference of muscle and fat each has. Same weight of muscle and fat, fat takes up more volume and space than muscle.
“There are some people who never gets fat even though they eat a lot. You may envy them and want to know their secret to keep slim. Actually, this not always a good thing for them. There are a tiny, finger-like projections made up of cells that line the entire length of our small intestine, which is call villi. Villi helps body to absorb nutrients from the food we eat and then shuttle those nutrients into our bloodstream. This group of people do not have a good functioning villi, so no matter how much food they eat, they will not be able to absorb”, she explained.
Brenda also said that most people who are underweight are afraid of the cold temperature. Their body finds it difficult to absorb the vitamins. People who are underweight need to increase their muscle which is harder than an obese who wants to lose weight. Apart from taking protein and calories, they need to do exercises to build their muscle.
So, again we ask, what will you choose between slim and fat? Remember, being slim may be a standard for beauty, but it’s not a good marker for your health status. As Brenda said, she had a lot of clients
who were underweight looking for her to lose their weight. They didn’t have any idea about their health status. A healthy body is the most important wealth.
